THE JEWELS ET JIM™ BRAND WAS ORIGINALLY CREATED TO FILL A VOID IN THE MEDICAL MARKETPLACE, BUT HAS SINCE EVOLVED INTO A LUXURY AND FASHION-FORWARD COLLECTION.

ALL OF THE VARIOUS JEWELS ET JIM™ CHARMS INCORPORATE THE UNIVERSALLY RECOGNIZED MEDICAL SYMBOL OF THE STAFF OF ASCLEPIUS INTO BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED AND RENDERED PIECES OF JEWELRY FOR MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN. OPTIONS CURRENTLY INCLUDE WEARING THE CHARMS ON LINK BRACELETS, LEATHER STRAPS, OR AS PENDANTS.

THE COLLECTIONS…

Every one of our medical I.D. charms is handcrafted of the finest 18kt. Yellow or White Gold. Options currently include inlaid backgrounds of Black Onyx, Coral, Lapis Lazuli, Tiger’s Eye, Jasper, Malachite, Turquoise, and Mother-of-Pearl. Additionally, some designs include genuine diamonds, rubies and sapphires.

Charms may be easily clipped onto link bracelets, attached to handmade leather wrist straps (in a variety of colors and widths), or worn on a chain as a pendant. The design allows one to switch styles quickly and easily without the need for tools.

Who we are, and why medical I.D. jewelry is so important…

Founder and partner Julia van Hees-Aidner is an active philanthropist involved with Lupus, AIDS, Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, and a host of other charities. As someone who has struggled with life-long drug sensitivities and Lupus, Julia recognized that in the event of an accident or hospitalization, she and many others should be wearing some form of identification which advised of an emergency contact as well as notification of specific medical conditions such as Crohns, Asthma, Alzheimer’s, MS, Lupus, Diabetes, Epilepsy, pacemakers, stents, etc., as well as allergies to foods and drugs such as peanuts, dairy, shellfish, penicillin, sulfa, codeine, morphine, etc. In addition, it is imperative to alert medical personnel to potential drug interaction due to prescribed medications one may be taking.

With such a busy life, finding that perfect medical I.D. remained a “to do” for Julia. This, however, changed when a close friend’s pre-teen daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy. This young girl’s father was deeply concerned that his daughter would never wear any of the unattractive medical I.D. jewelry he found on the market, so how would a paramedic, doctor, teacher, flight attendant, etc., know what was wrong if she had a seizure with no family members or close friends nearby? Subsequently, Ms. Van Hees-Aidner spoke to other stylish and fashion-conscious women and discovered that many of them shared the exact same concern either for themselves or for a loved one. None of them had ever considered wearing a medical I.D. as they had never found one which they deemed compatible with their own personal sense of style and elegance.

Newly energized, Ms. Van Hees-Aidner, a luxury branding specialist, international traveler, and lifestyle columnist, joined forces with James Martin of James Martin Jewels Ltd., a world-renowned Madison Avenue vintage and couture jeweler to create Jewels et Jim™, fashionable medical I.D. jewelry. Together, they have designed and manufactured a line of beautifully crafted jewelry which, in addition to being complimentary to anyone’s wardrobe and budget, truly fulfills a need in the marketplace.
